Visitas Turísticas Teatralizadas ("Dramatized Guided Tours")

The Dramatized Guided Tours titled “Noches de historia y leyendas de la Villa” (“Nights of Local history and legends”) have taken place every summer since 2001. These guided tours perform important local historical events, that make Tordesillas appear in history books.

“Las noches de la Reina Juana” (“Queen Joan nights”) was performed by “Paripé”, a local theatre company. Due to the great success of the play, it has been performed multiple times over the years.

After this, other local historical events were played, such us:

“Las Noches del Tratado” (“The Treaty Nights”) was performed by “Fabularia Teatro” and it was about Tordesillas Treaty Sign.

“1808: Napoleón en Tordesillas” (“1808: Napoleon in Tordesillas”) was played in summer 2008 to remind us the bicentennial of the beginning of the Spanish Independence War. The script was written and performed by “Teatro del Veneno”. The military recreation was performed by “Asociación Histórica Voluntarios de León”, and Mariano García y García guided them historically.

In 2016, the 4th Centenary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes was commemorated. Tordesillas is linked with Cervantes because the second part of Don Quixote de la Mancha was written by Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda, who was born in Tordesillas. There were guided tours focused on the chapter “Sancho en Barataria” (“Sancho in Barataria”), which was adapted and performed by “Teatro del Azar”.

In 2017, Tordesillas celebrated the Fifth Centenary of the first arrival of Charles V to Spain. That’s why dramatized guided tours were titled “Las Noches del Emperador” (“Emperor’s Nights”) that year.
