Tordesillas appeared in some historic documents in the year 939, when Abderraman III conquered Zamora. He lost the battle of Simancas against Ramiro II de León, Fernán González (the first count in Castile) and García Sanchez I (King of Navarra) three months later. This battle took place in Simancas and Tordesillas on the 5th of August. Tordesillas avoided Arabic domination after this battle.

The King Alfonso XV and his son Pedro I "The Cruel", some years later, built the Mudejar Real Palace in 1340. This palace was the residence of Leonor Guzman. In 1353, Blanca de Borbón, the legitimate wife of Pedro I, made the palace her residence, when her husband abandoned her two days after their wedding. One year later, Pedro I and his lover, Maria de Padilla took the palace as their home. Their children Isabel (1355) and Alfonso (1359) were born in this palace.

Doña Beatriz, major daughter of Pedro I, founds the Monastery in 1363, according to her father’s will. Two years later, in 1365, the Pope Urbano V confirms its constitution for bulla sent in Avignon.

In 1384, Juan I keeps Leonor Téllez de Meneses on detention. He was a widowed King and governor of Portugal. He wanted to get the kingdom of Portugal.
